Abstract

Four types of crimes against children including physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse and neglect are widely discussed by many figures and academics. Various backgrounds of studies covering epistemology and case studies on the issue have been conducted. However, the discussion specifically from the perspective of fiqh al-hadith is still lacking. Using inductive and deductive analysis methods, this article focuses on reviewing and analyzing hadiths related to crimes against children in the book of al-Sunan al-‘Arba’ah. Apart from understanding the criminal case against children from the point of view of fiqh al-hadith, it also aims to classify related hadiths and see how Rasulullah SAW solves this problem. The results of the study found that there are nine hadiths in al-Sunan al-‘Arba’ah that have to do with crime against children covering four basic categories of discussion. Based on the analysis conducted, the aspects of giving love, honesty with children, accountability, ability to control themselves, advise each other and be able to manage time fairly are the core of children's happiness and able to avoid these problems.
