Publication Ethics

Jurnal Al-Sirat – is an open access and a peer-reviewed journal, available online and published twice a year. This statement clarifies the ethical behaviour of all parties involved in the act of publishing an article in the journal, viz: the author, the chief editor, the peer-reviewed and the publisher (Penerbit UnIPSAS). This statement is based on COPE’S (Committee on Publication Ethics) Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.

Duties of The Editors

  1. Publication Decisions: The journal's editors have the authority to accept or reject papers or send them for revision.
  1. Review of Manuscript: The editor makes sure that every document is first assessed by the editor, who may employ suitable methods to look at the uniqueness of the material. The manuscript is sent to at least one reviewer for blind peer review after passing this test, and they will propose whether to publish the paper as is, make changes to it, or reject it. There will be a 30-day maximum evaluation period.
  1. Fair Review: The editor makes certain that every article is assessed on the basis of its intellectual merits, regardless of the authors' sex, gender, color, religion, citizenship, or other characteristics.
  2. Confidentiality: The editor is responsible for making sure that details about the authors' submitted articles are kept private.
  3. Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Unpublished materials disclosed in the submitted work cannot be used by the editor.

Duties of The Reviewers

  1. Confidentiality: The editor, editorial staff, and manuscript reviewers are not allowed to share any information about submitted papers. All papers that are submitted must be handled as confidential material.
  2. Source Acknowledgment: Manuscript reviewers are required to make sure that authors have cited all of the data sources they used for their studies. Any resemblance or overlap between the manuscripts under consideration or with any other published work that the reviewer personally knows about must be brought to the editor's attention right away.
  3. Objectivity Standards: Manuscripts submitted will be reviewed impartially. The reviewers will clearly state their opinions and provide evidence to back them up.
  4. Promptness: In order to guarantee an accurate and timely evaluation, a reviewer should inform the editor if they feel they are unable to assess the research presented in a manuscript within the allotted time or according to the specified parameters.
  5. Conflict of Interest: There should be no conflicts of interest for any reviewers.

Duties of The Authors

  1. Reporting standards: Authors reports of original research should present an accurate account of the work performed as well as an objective discussion of its significance. The underlying data should be represented accurately in the paper. A paper should contain sufficient detail and references to permit others to replicate the work. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behaviour and are unacceptable.
  2. Originality and Plagiarism: The authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works, and if the authors have used the work and/ or words of others that this has been appropriately cited or quoted.
  3. Multiple, Redundant or Concurrent Publications: Authors should not concurrently submit the same manuscript for publishing to other journals. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behaviour and is unacceptable.
  4. Acknowledgement of Sources: Author(s) should acknowledge all sources of data used in the research and cite publications that have influenced their research.
  1. Authorship of the Paper: Only those who significantly contributed to the idea, planning, implementation, or interpretation of the presented work should be listed as authors. Co-authors should include everyone who has contributed significantly. Other people who have contributed to certain significant parts of the research endeavor should be recognized or cited as contributors. In addition to making sure that no unsuitable co-authors are included in the manuscript, the corresponding author should make sure that all co-authors have reviewed and approved the final draft of the work and have given their consent for it to be submitted for publication.
  1. Data Access and Retention: Authors should retain raw data related to their submitted paper, and must provide it for editorial review, upon request of the editor.
  2. Disclosure of Financial Support: All sources of financial support, if any, should be disclosed.

Fundamental errors in published works: When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, it is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper.
